“Our lives are not our own. We are bound to others, past and present, and by each crime and every kindness, we birth our future.”
― David Mitchell, Cloud Atlas
Being able to connect with other humans is one of our most basic desires, whether you admit it or not.
Yet so few people know how at a most fundamental level. There are those who have trained themselves and have become experts, and it shows like a golden thread throughout their lives.
Some people again just don’t want to make the effort to relate with others for various reasons. To my own embarrassment I used to fall under this category. I was of the opinion that I did not need to talk to others as I was comfortable with my own conversation.
This was a mistake!
There is no amount of success you will attain without being able to connect with people on an emotional level.
Because of my demeanor and personal choices in the past, I seldom made the effort to build meaningful relationships. I would like to share with you a few aspects of this character in order for you to stay well clear of them. They will only block your career path and generally make you a misery to be around:
-
Say as little as possible when other, more balanced people try and have a conversation with you
• Do not speak into someone`s life
• Be concerned only with that which affects you.
• Stay at home and watch TV every night
• eye contact when talking to others
• street move to the opposite side
• Involved in other’s lives
As you can gather you need to be an overall miserable Stick-in-the-mud. You would be surprised how many are out there, beware!
